Palimoney for those living together?

If you've been living with someone for 12 years, and the other person decides to go, do you get half of their money? He said that he would give me half but now, he seems to have changed his mind. Also, can I file for some sort of palimony?

depends what state they live in ...proof that that person was living there and paying the bills  ( it always is for somone else)

If you are married, then you may be entitled to your share of the community property and possibly alimony. If you're not married, you're basically only entitled to the assets that are in your name.

Why would you get half of their money???? By the way- I don't really think this is for someone else... This is all about you....

that person should have been married to their partner and they wont have that problem, he can make her whatever promise he likes. my mom always said when u start wrong you will end wrong.

What makes anyone think that they are entitled to someone else's stuff or money?

It depends on the state and the circumstances.  If they gave up their job and the other person took care of them like a spouse then there is a good chance of it happening.

It has been done but it is almost impossible to do.

Palimony is a made up word because the real term was harder to say "non-marital relationship contract"

Zaremba's palimony case was dismissed for lack of written agreement, along with claims for emotional distress and that Cliburn subjected him to the fear of AIDS through Cliburn's alleged unprotected liaisons with third parties.[4][5]

g*y Canadian figure skater, Brian Orser, was sued by a former lover in 1998, outing the star in the process.

In 2004, comedian Bill Maher was sued for US$9 million by his ex-girlfriend, Nancy Johnson a.k.a. "Coco Johnsen". On May 2, 2005, a California Superior Court judge dismissed the case.
