Palin's daughter's pregnancy IS a big deal. Why wouldn't it be?

I hate how everyone is saying Palin is proving that she is a real woman with real life problems after we found out her daughter was pregnant. Good for her- but that's not what we need for our country right now. We don't need a "real"

woman leading us. The citizens of America- WE are the real women and real men...that's why we're not running for office, because we have financial problems, family problems, health problems, etc. We need someone brilliant, exceptionally different. We need someone stronger, someone who can protect their family (from teenage pregnancies) AND our country.

I do not want to come off as ignorant to the Republicans. But on a serious, unbiased note, Republicans: for the majority of you, your vote for Republican candidate McCain would not have changed despite who he chose for his running mate. However, would you support him dropping Palin and choosing a more qualified, spectacular VP? Or are you in support of Palin? And why? I'm just curious, not criticizing =)

  1. The pregnancy is a big deal, but at least Palin is a true pro-life person.  They're just downplaying it because of the unofficial rule of the press laying off politicians' kids.

  2. I like Palin as VP.  I think she is intelligent and a breath of fresh air for the country.  I like her for the reasons of shaking up Washington and changing the broken system like she has done in Alaska.  I always knew that McCain would do this but Palin on his side they will be an unstoppable team.  The funny thing is that the left is criticizing Palin for her lack of experience when the truth is that Obama is the most unqualified person to run for President in history.

  3. Obama has admitted to using cocaine.

Bush's daughers were both popped for underage drinking.

Clinton - well, we all know what kind of morals he has

Bush Senior's son got a dui in the 70's

Roanls Reagan was divorced (a moral issue for some people)

Jimmy Carter had a drunk brother (remember Billy Beer?)

Gerald Ford's wife was a drug addict.

So how far back to we have to go to find the perfect political family?

  4. It is not a big deal because I am not voting to elect Palin's daughter for anything.  And as far as being seventeen and pregnant more than one of the candidates can atest to such an experience.

  5. I'm a supporter of obama

I detest Palin's veiws on abortion. Rape and incest is okay? Wow.... Doesn't believe in s*x education, well we know why she has 5 kids and a teenage daughter who's pregnant... doesn't this prove teaching abstinence only doesn't work?

  6. I think it is a BIG deal too!! The president and VP should be good influence on our children and this isn't the kind of influence I need for my girls!

  7. I think you are right with your point of veiw and to me this are all political games. I was telling one of my friends that the best for Mr. McCain is Mitt but because of the nagative advant that Mr. McCain has being running about Mr. Obama he was on able to choose Mitt. And from another point of view Palin is a governor of Alaska with the population less than 700,000 for the whole states. So to compare her for the top job of our country I think is a gimik. God for bid bad think if anything happens to McCain after elected can Ms. Palin lead the Country of the free world. You cannot compaire her with Hillary Clinton

  8. To Mr. Libs, this isn't a question about the "lesser of the two evils."  You don't evade a question like this by asking about "Barack Obama, the alternative."  In this light, you, sir, are the "hysterical" one.  And, nowhere in the original question was it posited that the Barracuda was running for President.  When you're old enough to vote, come back to the conversation...  d**n 15-year-old political experts...

    Now to the original question:

Despite all the poo-pooing of the advent of her teenage daughter's pregnancy and the fact that it is not considered rape (statutory or otherwise) under Alaska law and the fact that she's going to do the "right thing" by having the baby and not aborting the pregnancy, the fact remains that an "abstinence only" platform doesn't even seem to hold water (no pun intended) in the Palin home, let alone on a national scale.  It speaks even much less to her ability to advocate such a premise without coming off as a complete hypocrite.  Now, people who wanna argue will say, "Well, it wasn't SHE who got pregnant as a teenager, it was her DAUGHTER, and her DAUGHTER isn't running for VP."  Just another argument to add to the beginning of this paragraph.  It speaks to the inability of Ms. Palin to govern her OWN roost, let alone millions of people she doesn't even know.

As far as Obama's mother fitting the bill, Obama's mother or father wasn't running for a high-profile public office in which their evident situation would be entirely counterproductive to their platform.  And, quite frankly, Mr. Obama didn't have a choice in the matter.  He was the one inside the womb.  This is but an obvious observation.

Yes, everyday people have everyday problems, but preaching abstinence only when your unwed teenage daughter's got a bun in the oven doesn't sit too well, especially when you support your daughter in the aftermath.  Disown her, and we'll talk. If it's that important a posture for you upon which you'd consider legislating, your daughter will understand!  ;)  (Not really, but just to make the point)

Politics is politics is politics.  You know they're lying when their lips are moving.  I say we all vote like Richard Pryor's character in Brewster's Millions was trying to advocate -- "None of the Above."

  9. the same could be said for obama....his church, his religion, his experience, his america hatin, well now i love america wife,...and no, i really dont care for mc cain, but obama would be the last person i would ever vote for....hes a socialist...plain and simple and he is the last thing america needs....and he connot win

  10. And the alternative is Barack Obama?????????????????

Too funny. By the way. She's running for VP. Not Pres.
