Question:

Palin's pregnant daughter?

I am still not sure who I am voting for, I am a Democrat but I actually share a lot of McCain's beliefs. Do you think that conservative republicans will have a problem with Palin and her pregnant daughter? Personally I think it is refreshing to see a politician being honest about issues that aren't exactly flattering to the campaign. She obviously didn't pick this path for her daughter but she is accepting it supporting her but I am wondering if there are Republicans out there that won't support her because of the unmarried pregnancy thing. What do you think?

  1. I couldn't care less that Palin's daughter is pregnant or that she is marrying the father of the baby.

All I care about are the issues and that is what I will be voting on.

  2. Just keep this episode in mind when McCain and Palin claim that they have superior moral values and ethics, just because they are Republican.

  3. Oh Heidi, you ole McCain lover you.  nice try

  4. Irrelevant.

I'm worried about her wacko right wing positions, no abortions for rape or incest victims, drill ANWR, shoot animals from helicopters, teaching Creationism, etc. I'm worried about her ethics, firing someone who wouldn't fire her ex brother in law, making decisions about oil companies, while her husband drew a six figure salary from one, BP.

I worry that she is unqualified for the most important job of the VP, being ready to act as President if need be.

I agree with Obama her daughter is irrelevant. There are plenty of reasons she's unacceptable.

  5. I am as Conservative as you can get, and I find her fascinating and wanna learn more,  I will vote for McCain/Palin.  she is one of us, not a beltway insider. She has Problems so do we.  Her kids make mistakes so do mine.  She is more Conservative than anybody that ran for the republican nomination more so I think than even Fred Thompson.

Ashleigh- when Obama was BORN his mother was 18 and unwed.

  6. Amen. Palin has been refreshingly honest about the situation. She never said she approves of the situation, but she will continue to support her daughter and her gandchild.

Having a child who makes a mistake does not mean someone is a bad parent. But embracing a child who has made a mistake and supporting them is the sign of a great parent.

  7. They will support her because she has chosen to keep the baby.  ANYONE....Republican or Democrat that has anything nasty to say about her daughter can just go to (you know where).  There is a beautiful blessing that she is carrying.  NO CHILD IS A MISTAKE!!!!!  Sure her daughter had a lapse in judgement JUST as the father of the baby did as well.......so they are human.  We ALL make mistakes.

  8. i have talked to a few conservatives who having some issues about this, downgrading her parenting skills.

my response is that there are other teens out there of policians who have gotten themselves in the same situation, only they may have had an abortion so we never end up knowing about it, and it's never discussed by the public, as this is.

if someone really believes in a woman's right to choose, like so many democrats do, why are they so bothered then by Palin's daughter's right to choose to keep her baby?  I don't understand it.

This issue isn't really with Palin, in my opinion, it's between her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend.

As a homeschooling mother of 4, "most" of us parents try to do the best we can with our kids - but LIFE happens.

I've also been shocked at how many liberals are saying that Palin has children to take care of, and won't be able to perform a job as VP.  That just really contradicts what they normally say - equality for women.  wow, that one has just really thrown me off...

I have a great deal of respect for Palin and her family's choices.  I love that Palin is a normal, everyday woman, dealing with issues that many others do.

  9. I think it is a non-issue.^

  10. I think she is handling this well...her and her family are showing that they practice what they preach.  Palin is pro-life and she has shown this not just through words but with action.  1.  She was told during pregnancy that her son was going to be born with down's syndrome...she had him anyway.  2.  Her daughter is unwed, young, and pregnant...instead of trying to get her to kill the baby before the news broke.  They are standing behind their daughter and loving her anyway, despite all she's going through.  This shows the family is a real American family.  Many people face these issues in our world and it only makes them more likeable in my opinion.  Many people who don't go through issues are quick to say something, but if they were put in the situation I often wonder how they'd really react.  Palin has shown she says what she means, and means what she says.

The news about Palin's daughter dosen't deter my vote - in fact it makes me feel even better about voting for McCain/Pain.  I feel this way because of the way Palin is handling this.

I'm really proud she's on the ticket.   I agree with you that she's refreshing and facing this issues head on.  They've said that even back in Alaska she pushed through hard times and got through.  We need someone in politics that can keep their wits about them even when times get tough -- I fully believe Palin is that person.

  11. Palin's daughter makes her own decisions.  If we only elected people who have complete control of their kids, we would only be able to elect people with no kids.  That would leave out both major party tickets in their entirety.

For those worried about Palin's husband working for BP, you should know that Obama's wife worked for a hospital.  Her salary at that hospital went up by $200,000 a year shortly before Barack gave it a grant via the Illinois state senate.

As far as the teaching of intelligent design, beware the sound of one hand clapping.  Having examined evolution, I question it.  You haven't even glanced at intelligent design, and you're dismissing it entirely.  That's fine, but no competent scientist would waste time debating this issue with you.

  12. This Republican will support her.  Her daughter is pregnant and unmarried, but has chosen to give the child LIFE.  That says alot!   She could have chosen to abort a beating heart, but she didn't.  Unfortunately, too many young girls end up in this situation and then add more bad choices to the first.  Shows that the government being involved in s*x education of our kids isn't working.  We have the highest rate of pregnant teens in the industrialized world, partly because we have made abortion easy to get (in California, a teen can be taken for an abortion by a school counselor or nurse, without the parents permission or notification).  Same child can't get a shot without the parent being there.  Where is the sense of that.

  13. Republicans were willing to support a president who was very fiscally irresponsible with his excessive spending, so they will overlook this one too.  They just want to make sure that the candidate has an "R" next to their name.

  14. I think it shows that she is an irresponsible parent. Having a pregnant 17 year old is not "real life" - look at the % of teen pregnancy...I don't know ANYONE who was pregnant at 17, nor do I know ANYONE who has a pregnant 17 year old. I think this is all propaganda from the Republican camp thinking that all of this will make Palin seem like she is the girl next door...when she isn't...unless you live in a trailer park.
