Palin told a group of ministry students that the Iraq war is a "task that is from God." how does that fit? how does waging war fit in the lists of tasks that God has for mankind? is this only a Christian perspective?

  1. As Aquinas adjusted Church thought with his theory of the Just War (and whereas Jesus would say no to all war), Christians have compromised the faith with some perfunctory arguments to continue living 'normal' lives.  Aquinas wrote that a war was just if it were not one of aggression, if it were being waged to save more lives, or if someone was attacked.  I believe TWOT (notice how Bush never uses that acronym!) is being waged with those principles in mind, in addition to being a cash cow for Oil Service companies and contractors friendly to the Repubs.  It is in this context that Gov. Palin, I think, was referring to it being "a task from our G-d"

  2. You knew she had to negate a pregnant daughter somehow -

    I hate politics!

and ditto to Dave - be safe and thanx

  3. The Iraq War, another good reason for atheism...

  4. Some Believers can make any point they want by saying it's from God.

That's scary and funny at the same time.

  5. Are you talking about the recent war...... it was just meaningless war on an issue that iraq has weapons of mass destruction.....(although america has most dangerous weapons ... like the one in hiroshima)

UNO denied the war.. but america did......

in 5 yrs., US didn't find any weopon .....Iraq didn't have any weapon otherwise they would have used them in the war....

US soldiers raped girls of iraq....... at an average 500 people died daily in this period....this is surely not the order of GOD

  6. It simply shows that Palin has no respect for our Constitution.

Religious views should play no role in our Government!

  7. God has tasked America with getting everyone's oil and removing/subduing those who oppose - from their point of view.

  8. I'm an atheist and I'm deployed.  Does this mean I can go home now? :)

  9. I like the way comedian Eddie Griffin put it:

"We're waging war over there, because Islam is not conducive to Wall Street."

I've always maintained that Christianity/Jesus were 'good for business', but never considered the fact that Islam *wasn't*.

    The brotha is right.

  10. my take on it was, that the soldiers would be guided by God to do their job..Not unlike any other job, when Christians ask for guidance. Much like many of our founding fathers, and first commanders in chief who asked for the same thing(but then, I'm sure you're aware of that, huh?)...no one should hate war more than a soldier..I too hope they can come home soon. What really bothers me(as an older person)is how so many young people(I guess by the way their acting)would've committed suicide during WW1 or 2....I mean if you can't handle this conflict, you'd have had a total meltdown I guess back then, huh?

  11. First of all, if we were there for oil, we would already control it all and gas wouldn't be $4 / gallon in the US.

A war that is saving Israel is from God.  The Iraq war doesn't really have anything to do with Israel, so I'm not sure where Palin is getting her logic.

  12. She assumes that everything she wants, God wants.

  13. I guess god's task is for America to stop Allah's jihad.

Both teams pray to the same god and then god sides with the winner.

  14. This an admission to a hate crime. whether fact or fiction, you are going to have a lot of explaining to do... I'm sending this to the authorities...

  15. Sarah Palin is 100% brain-dead .

she didn't speak about education , she didn't speak about health care , she didn't speak about more rights , she just loves to attack the democrats , she reminds me of the trolls in R&S .
