palladium and cadmium are being used extensively in the manufacture of gold ornaments.how do they in the long run affect the persons waring them and also people involved in manufacture and sales?

  1. Neither palladium nor cadmium are radioactive.

    Palladium has low toxicity. It is a member of the platinum group and as such is a Nobel metal meaning that it does not oxidize readily and also is fairly chemically inert. Therefore it will have little bioactivity in metallic form.

    Cadmium is a toxic metal. The primary hazard is from breathing cadmium fumes for workers in the plating and metal working industries. The primary source of toxic cadmium for the general public are from the burning of fossil fuels (coal) and the incineration of municipal waste. Cadmium poses little risk from contact exposure of plated ornamental objects and hardware such as screws.
