Palomino's?

Can anyone tell me when Palomino's officially became a breed cos to my knowledge i thought they were still only a colour????

Don't know when but many people think their horses are special and want official papers to prove it.  So now we have Palomino registries, Buckskin registries, Paint registries and I've even seen 1/2 quarter horse registries that will accept any horse with at least one AQHA registered parent no matter what the other 1/2 is.

Pieces of paper don't prove the quality of an animal.

in alot of places have is listed down like its a breed but its still a colour not a breed:

its ancient palomino colouring that alot of established breeds of horses and ponies have. its a colour type

spanish brought the colour over here

the breeds that it still occurs in :

quater horse saddle bred

the american palomino horse association

the horse has to be between 14.1 and 16hh one horse should be a quarter horse, arabian, or thorouhg bred and the other parent has to be registered

Well technically they are a colour but they are also a breed. A palomino is the same as a paint or pinto

See a painted horse is only classified as a paint if it is registered within the paint association or either one of its parents were within the association, if not it is classified as the ordinar colour pinto.

It is the same with a palomino, They are known as the breed of palomino is they are associated with the palomino association ( one of the associations www.palominohorseassoc.com) but if it is not registereed it is known as jsut a colour of a horse.

Anyways thats jsut what my general knowledge is of what i've learnt over the ladst couple of months :)

The are a color breed.  For instance I have a Quarter Horse that is double registered int eh Quarter Horse Assoc as well as the Palomino Assoc.

If you mean haflingers with a PALOMINO colour.

the place of origin is in austrian Tyrol europe.

All i know is that palominos where brought over by the usa.
