Pan Am Badminton Championships: Sattawat Pongnairat punishes William Cabrera in Men’s Singles clash
Sattawat Pongnairat, a spirited player from USA, defied all odds and lived up to expectations as he easily crushed Dominican Republic’s William Cabrera in Men’s Singles contest at XVII Pan Am Badminton Championships in Peru, on Monday, October 8.
The impressive Pongnairat, who has been earning good results in the recent tournaments, played with complete control and did not let his rival to create any trouble at any stage and eventually won the contest in an easy fashion.
Pongnairat was in commanding position in the whole fight as he did not let Cabrera to dominate the pace and ultimately ended up the battle in a one-sided fashion with a huge margin in just 24 minutes on court.
Cabrera, on the other hand, was unable to put up strong show as he played negative badminton and conceded many points all the way and lost the battle in a one-sided manner with a humiliating margin on the board.
 In the first game, the impressive Pongnairat was in remarkable touch as he did not miss any chance to bury the bird in his rival’s court and managed a stunning lead until the end of first half.
After the mid-game interval, Pongnairat continued his punishing play on court as he did not let his opponent to even get close on score board.
USA shuttler did not lose his focus at any stage in the whole opening game and eventually bagged it with a spectacular 21-13 score on the board.
In the second game, Cabrera tried to play attacking badminton in opening rallies but he failed to take the bird early and failed to take any advantage from his smashes as his challenger was quite comfortable in responding effectively.
In the meanwhile, Pongnairat played in a dominating fashion and he eventually took a comfortable lead until the break.
Pongnairat remained on track in the concluding half of second set by playing attacking badminton and he easily managed to finish up the set with an incredible margin of 21-9.
The in-form Pongnairat won this Men’s Singles contest in a completely commanding fashion with a huge 21-13 and 21-9 score on the board.
