Pan Am Junior 2012: Lorraynny Vicente hammers Adrianna Holcek in semi-final encounter
Women’s Singles expert Lorraynny Vicente fetched a vital match point for Brazil by beating Adrianna Holcek in semi-final match of XXI Pan Am Junior Team Event on July 23, 2012.
This epic tussle lasted for 42 minutes and both contenders put all in their possession to pile up final result of 5-21, 21-19 and 11-21.
The victorious female shuttler locked the honour by bagging the first and last set of the match while the local player could rise only in the second game.
Lorraynny Vicente started her campaign at Sherwood Park in Alberta, Canada in perfect manner and bagged first match point with a huge difference in concluding margin.
She employed unbeatable strategy and prevailed in five consecutive rallies after 1-1. This intensive campaign took her to an authoritative position of 6-1.
The Brazilian campaigner did not lose this rhythm and grabbed valuable points at a steady pace. She finished the first half of the set with 11-3 total.
Adrianna Holcek did not have any reply to her rival’s attack and remained grounded all the way to game point situation. She lost first set with a notable deficit in 5-21 score.
However, she came back after this horrendous start and managed to save the honour in following game. She played with great conviction to avoid a straight-set defeat.
The Canadian female shuttler was bit confused in the start but then a couple of productive rallies boosted her confidence.
She caught her competitor at 5-5 and then gained a decent advantage by registering a respectable figure of 11-8 before the interval.
After one-minute break, she lost focus for short span of time but then reinstated the dominance by pocketing ending two points of 21-19 margin.
Lot of fireworks was expected in third set as both contenders were on same level with 1-1 match score.
They remained close all the way to half time as neither of them could make difference until 11-9. However, then Lorraynny Vicente ruled the court in second half and sealed her victory with a stunning knock of 21-11.
However, the other Brazilian campaigners could not follow this successful trail and lost all three of following encounters which resulted in their woeful exit from the event.
