  1. Panamanians eat a lot of chicken. The national dish is chicken with rice. Plantains are very popular, both fried (as "patacones") and cooked with cinnamon and sugar. Panama is very narrow with the Atlantic on one side and the Pacific only fifty miles away, so there's a lot of seafood. The biggest exports are sugar, coffee, melons, and flowers.

  2. We usually eat rice in our lunch.  With beans, lentils, etc, and some kind of meat or chicken or fish.

Our typical foods include corn tortillas (thicker than the Mexican kind, and fried), hojaldras (made with flour) carimañolas (made with yucca and with meat in the inside).  Tamales, made with corn and chicken or pork, etc.

As desserts, we have suspiros, merengues, bienmesabe, sweet bollos, etc.
