Question:

Panama Canal Cruise average age of passengers?

My husband and I have a chance to go on a Panama Canal cruise in January. (It's something we've always wanted to do.) Here's my reservation: we are fairly young (30s) and have two well-behaved young girls (6 & 8). I'd been warned by a travel agent once many years ago that that particular cruise would be "full of seniors". I have nothing against older people, but I like to have fun on a cruise and (I'm sorry to say) it just wouldn't be fun with bunch of cranky people yelling at my kids for 10 days. (I took one cruise like that where the cruise had not sold out so they offered a great deal on it to a 55+ condo complex in Florida and they were pretty miserable all week.) We'll be going on Carnival, so I'm hoping the crowd will be slightly younger. Anyone have any experiences?

  1. sure the crowd will be older but... if you let other people influence your fun them you will not be happy. personally if i had a chance to go, i wouldn't care who was on the cruise.. and the bars and clubs will not be so crowded and the "old folks" will go to bed early .. i personally have never seen anyone yelling a other folks kids and i travel with a lot of older cruisers.

  2. The crowd will be older but I think that the Panama Canal Cruise is a great experience. Ask to eat dinner with just your family and you should be fine

  3. I did the panama canal cruise with Princess, and there were very few children as most kids are in school at that time. Now the few kids that were on the cruise, only 2 were about your kids age and they were delightful, very well behaved. I hope someone who did it on carnival answers your question to give you a better idea of that trip. Just one more thing, It was an awesome trip.

  4. Just completed an 18 day repositioning cruise from Santiago, Chile to Boston MN via the Panama Canal on the Norwegian dream.  There were about 1600 passengers and I'd say the average age was 60+, which is where I fit in.  There were 38 children on board ranging from 3 to 12  and NCL provided excellent day and evening care programs for them.  The kids were never any problem.  Check their website at:  http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPag...

I haven't been on Carnival for many years, but I'm sure they also have kids' programs.
