--MOST OF THE BELOW INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT IN UNDERSTANDING MY SITUATION. PLEASE READ BEFORE ANSWERING!-- (thanks)

I lost the remote for this big, junky tv in my room. I could not switch between TV Video mode. It has a built in VCR.

I do not, and am unable to have it hooked up to cable. The coaxial cable (the bit that has a long wire sticking out of it, and you s***w it into the tv) I bought recently is hooked up to an RF modulator and my tv.

And here contains the problem. Every time I turn the tv on, it reads CHANNEL/CLOCK AUTO SET CINNECT ANTENNA CABLE AND IF YOU USE A CABLE BOX TUNE IT TO YOUR LOCAL PBS CHANNEL THEN... PLEASE PRESS CHANNEL UP KEY

Once you press channel up, it starts scanning channels. It doesn't find any (not hooked up to cable) and takes me back to the old screen. It won't take me anywhere else, and refuses to change channels so I can go to my modulator (programmed to be channels 3 and 4).

Is there anything I can do to skirt this? It kills me! Thanks.

  1. The very first question that comes to mind is, have you tried purchasing another remote from Panasonic?  How old is this set and what is the model number?  Can you borrow a Universal Remote from a family member or neighbor and see if you can make it function with that?  Does the TV/VCR unit have a menu control button on the front panel of the set?

Added info:  I found a Remote control for your set.  You can get it here:   http://www.electronicadventure.us/Mercha...

The part number shown references back to PQV2511.
