Question:

Panasonic DMC-TZ5 shutter problems?

Okay, Today I went out to take a few pictures w/ my Panasonic DMC-TZ5, which I've have for only a handful of weeks (5-6) and I noticed a black obstruction in the upper right hand corner of my screen. I didn't know what it was at first, and thought it might be something wrong w/ the LCD screen, but then I soon found out that my shutter is opening & shutting very slowly. It takes a second or two for it to fully open, and can take even a few more seconds for it to close. Is there anything I can do? Is it still under warranty by the manufacturer? Has anyone had similar problems? Any help would be appreciated - I paid quite a bit of money for this camera and to have even the smallest defect is distressing.

  1. Panasonic cameras carry a 1 year warranty.  Or call the store you purchased it from and see if you can return it.  Some retailers allow up to 90 days with the receipt.  It sounds like your shutter is sticking partially closed.
