Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD recorder - 'remote DVD2'...

Help! The kids have been fiddling with the DVD. When I tried to record, the DVD could not find the correct channel. I've tried rescanning the DVD and the TV. Then I got fiddling and now the remote isn't working! Whenever I try to use it, the DVD screen reads 'remote DVD2'. Really fed up.
