  1. panasonic = better quality

  2. Absolutely no question Panasonic DMC TZ5 is a better choice. It packs this superb LEICA lens, 10x Zoom all in its compact body. I’d definitely go for Panasonic. Panasonic DMC TZ5’s natural rival would be Canon SX100 IS and sill I’d go for Panasonic. If you prefer a super zoom camera you’ll have plenty of options to choose from like Olympus SP 570 (20x zoom), Canon S5 IS (12x zoom), the newly Sony DSC H50 (15x zoom) and Panasonic DMC FZ18 (18x Zoom). Personally, I have Sony DSC H7 and I’m not happy with it at all. Barrel distortion seems to be a pretty serious problem with Sony’s latest cameras. Again in this super zoom category there are two that in my opinion is worth a closer look, they would be Panasonic DMC FZ18 and Canon S5 IS.
