Panasonic Plasma TV Quality?

I bought a Panasonic Plasma TV at the price of nearly 1,500US$ on Jun 3 2006. At that time I was expecting a life expectancy of 10,000hrs or 5 to 10 years which is reasonble. But to my surprise in early April of 2008 it broke down and Panasonic maintenance was to charge me 260 US$. this leads me to doubt the trustworthiness of Plasma TV as well as that of Panasonic. Do you think Panasonic Plasma TV is good? DO you think I am fairly treated?

  1. Plasmas look good and all but they break really easily especially if your playing video games on them i would suggest selling it and buying a LCD TV.

  2. Almost two years old...most likely the power supply or even more likely the Y-Sus board is bad...they fail in ALL BRANDS.

Panasonic is one of the BEST manufacturers out there...

If you don't like the TV, sell it..

  3. I would recommend to anybody thinking of buying HD to go with LCD. The 1080 looks just as good, and as you know the maintenance on Plasma is crazy. That price actually sounds pretty reasonable for a plasma, Unfortunately. I bought a two-year ext. warty for $58.00 for my Samsung 46" LCD. It was going to be $300 for the plasma I was comparing, also Samsung. I don't think it Panasonic it's just the Plasma. By the way the Samsung is GREAT!!
