It really depends on what your going to hook to it.  The single tuner split scree pip would only be a benefit if you are directly connect coax.  If you are going to use a DVR, Sat or Digital cable box.  You wouldn't use this added feature.  However the extra hookups in front, including the HDMI connection, would be beneficial if you see yourself connecting and disconnecting game consoles or camcorders for viewing.  If you just read this and said, no I doubt i need 3 hmdi hookups and I really dont like hooking things up anyways, then don't spend the extra money.  Save it for a good HD DVR.

There's not too much of a difference, so settle with the cheaper TH-50PX700U.  You can save cash by going to shop at hhgregg and bargaining: from my experience, they sell cheap (don't fall for a $1000 one from a weird online company, it is usually a scam).
