My cheapo VCR/DVD combi is now caput and I am thinking of purchasing the Panasonic as above. It has a digital tuner and an HDMI output for use with a HD TV (when I buy one). Is this a good choice?

  1. I don't know about the specific model but the digital tuner and HDMI output are useful (going forward)... check out if there is a 1080 upscaling feature on it or version of it, as this will improve the picture some, when you do get that TV.

Personally though, I wouldnt suggest a VCR/DVD combo... but appreciate you probably still have videos you want to watch. A cheapo VCR might be a better option and a seperate DVDR or HD DVDR might be a better option? This way when the VCR screws up you are only replacing that part, likewise for the DVDR.

Sony do some great ones, as do some other manufacturers.
