Panasonic phone battery

Question

My Panasonic phone battery needs replacing and I`m curious as to whether you need to replace it with another panasonic battery or you could use another type such as energizer? Will another type of battery work in a panasonic cordless phone? Better yet, will it last longer then a panasonic battery?

There are three things to watch when replacing batteries, brand is not one of them.

1 - Number/size of cells (most have 3, some have 2, most cells are the shape of an AA battery, some use AAA sized cells)

2 - connector shape

3 - order of wires (i've seen the same connector with the red/black wires reversed, be careful, this will damage the phone).

You can use another brand, if it's the nicad type, they sell them at Walmart.  I just replaced one not long ago.
