I have purchased a panasonic S53 HDMI dvd player recently. I am planning to buy a sony bravia TV in future. Does my panasonic dvd supports sony HDMi TV set properly or do i need to buy a sony hdmi dvd player? In case, i use panasonic dvd with the sony HDMi tv, does this impact the quality?

  1. You won't have any problems with it....HDMI is a specific standard that was developed so ALL manufacturers using the HDMI standard will operate correctly on any other HDMI-based equipment....

  2. You can buy ANY brand. You do NOT need to buy a new player. Your choice of TV is excellent, theyre have great PQ and good reliability. but there isn't much of a difference between quality of a sony dvd player vs. a pioneer or a phillips. In fact most dvd players are built out of only a few factories and are "rebranded" for the mfgr. Your thought about keeping with the same brand is unnecessary, but some tv/dvd combinations will allow the devices to "talk to each other", but these are usually useless frills. For best quality for the cheapest price consider Look at Oppo, for high end and Samsung, phillips for best value for the dollar.  Dont buy expensive hdmi cables, but do buy good decent ones, the hdmi interface is electricly a great choice, but physically they are illconcieved. My favorites are from monoprice.com.

  3. Your player will do just fine. HDMI is an all digital connection from component to component. You do NOT need the same brand equipment for it to work. There will be absolutely no quality change because of the brand difference (Theoretically anyway, depends on the maker of your dvd player and how well they're built). Also, do not be fooled into buying $100 HDMI cables. They are an absolute waste of money. Like stated before HDMI is a digital connection. It's digital in $10 cables, and digital in $100 cables. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE IN PICTURE/SOUND QUALITY. (the only exception would be if you're running a cable longer than 30ft, which MOST people will never need.) Definately check out monoprice.com for great deals on HDMI cables. Make sure they're ver. 1.3 HDMI cables.
