Panathinaikos eyeing Benfica duo Ruben Amorim and Miguel Vitor – Portuguese Primeira Liga News
Greek side, Panathinaikos, are reportedly eyeing Benfica’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruben-Amorim-c31829 and Miguel Vitor. The duo are scarcely used by the Eagles and Jesualdo Ferreira is allegedly looking to acquire their services on a loan deal till the end of the season.
Ruben Amorim and Miguel Vitor have found themselves quite low in the pecking order at Estadio da Luz this season. Amorim, who is capable of slotting in as an attacking or defensive midfielder, has seen his role overtaken by the likes of Javi Garcia and Axel
Witsel this term.
Belgian International, Witsel, has been quite impressive since his move from Standard Liege in the summer and has become a first-choice starter under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Jesus due to his consistent performances.
Miguel http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281, who primarily plies his trade as a centre-back, has found chances hard to come by this season and was also farmed out last time in order to gain some much needed game time.
Luisao has always remained the Reds undisputed leader at the back and taking him off would be a mistake indeed. But the addition of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Garay-c13071 has seen the two form an impregnable wall and earn the vote of confidence from the coach.
Vitor has mainly been utilized in the absence of the centre-back pairing and even then, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jardel-c17889 has been preferred in recent games.
As both the players are seemingly unwanted at the Stadium of Light, Panathinaikos are looking to sign them on loan in the upcoming transfer window.
Jesualdo http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ferreira-c13712, who has had previous coaching stints at Benfica, is currently calling the shots at the Greek outfit and is aware of the potential of Amorim and Vitor.
The Greens also lie third in the league and are now fighting for silverware in the UEFA Europa League. The addition of the two players could add in-depth quality to their ranks as well as providing some much needed European experience at the helm.
While a temporary move beckons in the winter transfer window, it remains to be seen whether Benfica will be willing to part ways with their utility players, who often come in quite handy during the season run-in.
