Panesar and Swann out-bowled the Indian spinners, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746 – Cricket News Update
Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian skipper, has admitted that the English spinners out-bowled their Indian counterparts in the second Test of the all-important series between the two countries at Mumbai.
After a comprehensive victory in the first Test at Ahmedabad, the home team prepared another spinning track at Mumbai. The move however, backfired because of England’s inspired selection of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Monty-Panesar-c2024, who troubled the Indian batsmen with his flight and turn.
The English spinners, Panesar and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 registered dominating centuries.
Ganguly has no doubts that the visitors bowled much better and expressed that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 pitch, which was offering a lot of time to the batsman, especially if the ball was pitched back of good length.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 played them well resorting to backfoot play,” Ganguly said.
While talking about the outcome of the series, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 captain still believes that the home team are favourites and expressed, “It will be an accident if we don't win the series.”
There has been a lot of criticism on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 of late, as the batting-maestro has struggled to perform well over the last 18 months. After an early dismissal in the Ahmedabad Test, the little-master managed just 16 runs in the two innings at Mumbai.
Some of the former cricketers have been calling for the great batsman’s retirement from international cricket but Ganguly hopes that Tendulkar will deliver the goods in the remainder of the series. The former left-hander also understands that the legendary cricketer is at the twilight of his career.
“Yes, his reflexes have gone down. But that is bound to happen with age. But what I feel is that Tendulkar is out of form and needs runs,” he added. “I want to earnestly believe that he will get runs in the two remaining Tests.”
