For a while now I've been having panic attacks.

They mostly happen out of nowhere, I'll just be sitting alone in the living room watching tv and BOOM! I'll get short of breath, my heart will pound, etc.. So last night after I had one, I started to feel a little nauseous, so I decided to take a gravol, hoping it would make me sleepy so I wouldn't have to go through another one. I took it at around 9:30 pm, and by 10 I was asleep. I woke up at around 12 am, and I was overwhelmed with dizziness. I also felt really weak and heavy. I couldn't get to sleep for abouther another 30 minutes. When I woke up at about 10 am, I was fine. But now at 12:18 pm, I'm starting to feel really really dizzy again and that weak/heavy feeling is coming back. Does anyone know what going on with me?

  1. Most of the feelings you're having are associated with anxiety/panic attacks. I had them for about 6 months or so, when I finally learned how to control them myself. There were two things that I took that did help. One was a natural product I got at a healthfood store called L-Theanine; which is a natural calming amino acid found in green tea. That helped when I took two. The other thing, when they were really bad, was a low dose of Xanax that my doctor prescribed me. If they're really bad all the time like this, I would go see your doctor and get some meds to help you out. It's not an easy thing to go through because they do just pop up like that. Feel better and learn to calm yourself as much as you can.

  2. Go to a doctor. Also, you might wanna check if it's something psychological.

  3. See your doctor.

  4. I understand the anxiety, and maybe you are stressed.  Any other medications?

If you were older, it is the sign of a stroke, or at anytime - then please see doctor and consider/rule out diabetes.  I think there is high BP involved regardless, and possibly sugar/glucose/insulin imbalance.

  5. Sounds like side effects from you're anxiety, but it's important to get a professional opinion when it comes to health matters.

You're GP would be the best person to ask.

Good luck & hope you feel better soon.

  6. WOW!!!!  My panic attacks never turned into so much dizziness and nauseousness.  There is quite a few people that I know lately that have been diagnosed with vertigo.  That would go along with your weakness, dizziness and nausea, but I'm not sure about the panic attacks.  They don't mention anything about those.  I'd definitely see a doctor soon!

  7. Panic Attacks are the worst !  (I had them)

You probably have an anxiety disorder.

I went to my doctor and he put me on Paxil...No more panic attacks.  That was eight years ago.
