  1. im with you im in edinburgh and went to tescos yesterday and you could not get in to the store from everyone at the garage as they were sitting all around the roundabout blocking the way

  2. Don't get it, what is the question exactly? Numpties? Stick??

I would say that every worker has the right to withdraw his or her labour to support a genuine grievance. However, no union (if it is a union in this case - I'm not familiar with the story) should have the right to hold the public to ransom and if that's what these people are doing, they should be sacked.

  3. Too right , if we panic buy then we make petrol scarce, someone on tv today said they watched a bloke put nearly £100 in

  4. No shortage here, not really that bothered either by the strike, can walk into work if I need too, just will not be able to visit remote locations I am responsible for when on duty if there is a problem.

  5. You should worry I live on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border and the car owners down here have gone completely mad - the queues for petrol are ridiculous we shall have shortages here for no reason.

  6. Yes panic buying is rediculous.

However, just to make a couple of points on the answers above me.

    "Doesn't bother me"

Well it should, because if it leads to the loss of fuel supplies to the transport industry, then your loaf of bread (to name an example) will cost about £10 a loaf

"Not allowed to hold the country to ransom"

The object of withdrawing your labour is to hold the employers to ransom, if the product the empoyer sells is a nationally used product, then the country may be held to ransom as a consequence, but that is for the emplyer to bear on his shoulders.

Every worker in the country should have the right to withdraw their labour, our ancestors fought and starved for that right and it should not be thrown away lightly.
