Pankaj Advani aiming high in his 2012-13 Snooker Season campaign
Young snooker talent from India, Pankaj Advani did not take part in the 2011-12 Snooker Season and participated only in local or Asian snooker events. He performed credibly in International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) snooker events and the Asian
Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) Asian Snooker Championship to grab a two-year pro tour ticket.
Advani has been a consistent performer in the regional circuit but was never in the spotlight until he made his way to the professional tour of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA). He started his 2012-13 Snooker Season campaign
with his participation in the first major ranking event, the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament but crashed out in the first round of the qualifying session.
He did reach the third round of 2012 Australian Goldfields Open qualifying session but failed to make it to the televised stages of the event. The Indian is now aiming to make an appearance in the upcoming snooker tournaments of the new season as he is determined
to prove his talent to the world. Advani believes he can play well in the 2012 World Snooker European Tour.
While speaking to World Snooker, Advani said, “There is a time and a place for everything in everyone's life. I don't want to look back later in life and regret not giving myself a chance at snooker. I've got a two year tour card and snooker is growing around
the world so it's the best opportunity I could have.”
He added, “I would love to see it become a global game played in many countries. If it doesn't work out for me, then billiards will still be there. I believe that things happen for a reason and that now is the time for me to try pro snooker.”
Advani still has Players Tour Championship (PTC) events ahead in the new season where he can deliver up to the mark and improve his rankings. In the first two events of PTC, he was impressive at the baize and hit he advance stages of the tournament which
shows he has the spark to unsettle his opponents.
