Pankaj Advani confident to retain National title as India oust Belgium at 2011 Snooker World Cup
Indian cueman, Pankaj Advani believes he needs more concentration and hard work to retain the National Billiards and Snooker Championship title. He is now in Thailand, playing in 2011 Snooker World
Cup at Bangkok Convention Centre.
Advani hopes for a positive run in the upcoming season as he is moving to Canada for International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Men’s Snooker Championship at Montreal. He has already
grabbed the title once in 2003 and was runner-up last year.
Advani has also been doing pretty well at the National circuit, grabbing last year’s title convincingly, and now aims to retain that title. The player revealed that he would give his best to remain
on top of National Billiard and Snooker Championship, all he needed to do was remain focused and sharpen his game a little bit.
While speaking to the local media, Advani said, "I am confident of retaining the National title in the snooker event and also win back the billiards title from Alok Mehta. Players like Alok, Geet
Sethi, Dhruv Sitwala will present a tough challenge in the championship but I am hopeful of delivering the best."
He added, "Ahead of the tough season, I have to work on my sharpness. I have to be more sharp and alert with my game as all the upcoming championships are big events. I am participating in the Snooker
World Cup and this will hold me in good stead in the Nationals and IBSF tourney."
Currently Advani is playing at Bangkok Convention Centre in Thailand along with Aditya Mehta to represent India in 2011 Snooker World Cup. India has been drawn in Group C against Northern Ireland,
Brazil, England and Belgium.
So far, both Indians, Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta, have not performed according to expectations but they are still in the competition. They lost in their opening match of the event against Northern
Ireland, 1-4, but grabbed a 3-2 victory against Belgium in their second match.
In their match against Belgium, both Advani and Mehta lost one of their individual games but they played much better in doubles and took the match by 3-2. The pair will next face England on Thursday,
July 14.
