Pans labyrinth ending?

What did you think of the ending of the movie 'Pans Labyrinth' it soughtve, made me think... e.g. :

1. did the little girl have some rare disease where she hallucinates. (evidence for: some proof of it being real is the fact that she escapes into her step-dads room with the chalk and the door marks [chalk marks] are still on the wall) (evidence against: her step dad doesnt see the faun when she tells the faun that it cant make her baby brother bleed)

2. is the magical 'underworld' type place only for her eyes like is she the only human type person? (because she is mentioned as if she is only existing in a human body by the faun) (evidence: when she refuses to give the faun her baby brother, her step-dad see's nothing there)

thankyou for answering ^_^

P.S. Did anyone else cower when that guy gets his nose hammered into hes face?

P.P.S. did anyone else laugh when that guy stutters, when if he doesnt stutter he gets to escape torture... I couldnt help myself ROFL!

  1. okay. well i think both your answers was wrong.

it was a very good movie.

she was not hallucinating. she was the queen or the princess of the underworld and so they were trying to contact her i think.

but pan said that one innocent life has to be taken for one to be sparred.  but in the end pan wanted to take her baby brother.. but she died instead. so she was the innocent life.

    get it?

  2. According to the director:

    1. The fantasy world is indeed real, and not just a hallucination on her part.

    2. Ofelia belongs in this fantasy world, which why she can see everything and the adults can't.  Them being adults may also play into it.

"Now objectively, the way I structured it, there are three clues in the movie that tell you where I stand. I stand in that it's real. The most important clues are the flower at the end, and the fact that there's no way other than the chalk door to get from the attic to the Captain's office.  Objectively, those two clues tell you it's real. The third clue is she's running away from her stepfather, she reaches a dead end, by the time he shows up she's not there. Because the walls open for her. So sorry, there are clues that tell you where I stand and I stand by the fantasy. Those are objective things if you want. The film is a Rorschach test of where people stand.

    Guillermo Del Toro

  3. It is a magical underword but only she is aware of it

  4. i thought that she could see the faun and the magical world but it could also just have been her immagination going wild like little kids do i mean because she has a number of fairy tale books,.

i cringed when the guy was beat to death, but i watched it when the captain was stabbed and his mouth slit. he deserved it.
