Stomates of the lettuce leaf are located primarily on the lower epidermis. How is this advantageous to the plant?

Why could removing the true bark kill a tree?

    -removing the true bark will kill the tree, because the xylem and phloem are located there, thus leaving parts below without food and the parts above without water.
