Panthers LB Kion Wilson gets robbed, four guns missing - NFL News
Carolina Panthers linebacker Kion Wilson was the victim of a theft in Charlotte, North Carolina and police are currently investigating the matter.
Wilson was carrying four guns in his pick-up truck on the way to practice at a shooting range. The linebacker stopped to get some supplies at a Best Buy store and upon returning to his vehicle noticed all four weapons missing.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter thoroughly but still have no suspects in mind. CCTV footage from the area where the felony took place has also been taken for further analysis. The police also found that the truck’s loss has
been tampered with and they were looking for further evidence at this time.
Initially the Police refused to divulge the information of the guns registration citing privacy as the case was already under investigation but Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney in a statement said that all the firearms were under Wilson’s name and he
was allowed to carry them during travel.
The linebacker was carrying a FN 57 handgun, a Mossberg 12-guage shotgun, Glock 23 pistol and Smith and Wesson Body Guard 380. The dangerous nature of these firearms has made the case for their recovery even for urgent for Police as in the wrong hands they
can do significant damage to the lives and property of Charlotte’s citizens.
Kion Wilson was brought by the Carolina Panthers from San Diego Chargers as backup. He was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster to provide cover for the Panthers injury hit defence.
Wilson has started four games this season making one solo tackle last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Carolina Panthers are 6-9 this season and could easily have been in contention for a playoffs wildcard spot if not for their unlucky habit of losing games in the final quarter of the match. The Panthers will face high flying New Orleans Saints in their
final game of the season. The Panthers will be relying on rookie quarterback Cam Newton who has been impressive in his first professional season. Newton has created 20 passing touchdowns in 2011 while also rushing for a record 14. The rookie has also broken
Peyton Manning’s rookie passing yards record and has been selected as the first alternate in the 2012 Pro-Bowl.
The Saints have already qualified for the wildcard playoffs round and would likely rest some of their starters. The Panthers have a great opportunity to end the 2011 regular season on a high.
