Panthers end on-road losing streak after two years defeating Colts – NFL Recap Week 12
The Carolina Panthers finally have become successful in ending their on road losing streak almost after two years as they managed to inflict a defeat on the winless Indianapolis Colts 27-19 on past Sunday.
The Panthers successfully held off the Colts courtesy of 208 yards run by Cam Newton. Newton also scored a touchdown. Their DeAngelo Williams in the meantime scored twice to help the Panthers to leave the Colts the only winless
team in the current regular season of National Football League (NFL), American football’s premier league.
The Carolina Panthers were tied at 10-10 at the halftime, but broke with a 25 yards touchdown from Williams on return from the break into third quarter. Despite that the Panthers never trailed behind but the Colts they only managed
to take the game into their favour in last session.
The only turning point of the game for the Indianapolis Colts was the induction of Marvin Harrison, who helped the Colts win a Super Bowl and dominate the game for a decade. Colts fans had a reason to cheer for that.
It was otherwise a poor showdown by the Colts. Until the first quarter, the Colts offense had managed only one yard, which prompted boos and criticism from crowd in the stadium.
"We played hard," Colts safety Antoine Bethea said. "Should have had it, but they just made some plays, and we didn't make enough plays."
The matchup was crucial for both teams with of similar characteristics and performance. The must win was meant for one to end it losing streak in the current regular NFL season, and for the other it meant to end its on road losing
streaks.
It was the Carolina Panthers at the end to come out of its losing streak of 12 consecutive on road games in a row. Their last on road win was against the New York Giants in December 2009. They are 2-9 in the league now.
The Colts meantime remain the only winless team at 0-11. They have reached this mark for the first time in its history since 1986. They also have lost six consecutive home games since moving to Baltimore in 1984.
