The women’s volleyball team of Eastern Illinois University (EIU) is ready to jumpstart the 2012 season this coming Friday on August 24.
The 2012 schedule of Panthers will feature four highly competitive tournaments and 10-match home slate. Two-day DePaul Invitational in Chicago will start things off for Panthers in the regular season. The first tournament of the season will span over two
days (August 24-25), while a total of five teams including Panthers will fight for supremacy on the centre court. Panthers will come into stride with New Orleans, Indiana State, Butler, and the host Blue Devils in the competition.
Panthers will return to action in the second tournament of the season, the Oakland Invitational. Rochester, Michigan will provide the backdrop for the thrilling competition, which will complete its length from August 31 to September 1. Teams from Toled,
Iowa, and the host Oakland will challenge the EIU squad on the centre court.
The Golden Eagle Classic will be followed as the third non-conference tournament of the year, where Panthers will clash the Michigan, Wake Forest, and the host Marquette team. The Golden Eagle Classic will take place from September 7-8.
Penn State Classic will be featured as fourth and final regular tournament of the season before the conference play.  "Going back to Penn State will be a nice trip," said Price. "Besides getting to play one of top teams in the country, but also to show the
girls where Ryan (assistant coach Ryan Sweitzer) and I came from. Both Price and Sweitzer have the honour to claim NCAA championships in their respective Penn State University women's and men's volleyball squads during 2007 and 2008.
The Panthers 2012 roster will feature eight returning letterwinners. Seniors
Emily Franklin (OH), Alison Berens (MH), and
Kat Gosewisch (DS); juniors Reynae Hutchinson
(OH), Stephanie Arnold (MH), and Amy Martin
(MB); and Kelsey Roggemann (MB) and sophomores Katie Kirby
(OH) will be on board to lead to EIU to success.
Kate Price, the head coach of Eastern Illinois University volleyball programme, shared her views about the season in the following manner: "I am very excited about the 2012 season," said Price.  "Plus I'm excited to get the entire squad together come August
as I think we will be very young but will also have a lot of potential.  Our preseason schedule is a tough one but I think we need to play good teams seeing we have so much potential this coming season."
