The Italian legend contacted by Paris Saint Germain over a coaching role, but he still dreams of the Rossoneri
A.C Milan legend, Paolo Maldini, has insisted that the Rossoneri do not want him in a coaching role.
Maldini spent almost 24 years at San Siro, and was by unarguably the best player to play for the Italian Champions. The legendary defender holds the record for highest number of appearances not only for Milan, but he is also the
most capped player in the Serie A history. The 43-year-old remained loyal to the Rossoneri, and despite being lured by big money offers, he remained at San Siro throughout his career.
However, Maldini believes that he is not being treated by the club the way he deserved to be. The former Italian international insists that he was expecting a coaching role at Milan after his retirement, but he feels that the club
do not want him. The former skipper revealed that former club coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056, wanted him to join his coaching staff, but the club bosses blocked the move.
Maldini insisted that Rossoneri chiefs, Silvio and Barbara Berlusconi, have mentioned his name for a coaching role on numerous occasions, but they have not offered him anything.
While talking to the reporters, Maldini said,
“[Owner Silvio] Berlusconi mentioned my name numerous times, as did http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barbara-c7295 Berlusconi, but the reality is that nothing was ever offered to me. Leonardo wanted me close to the side, while [current boss Massimiliano] Allegri would
have liked me as a middleman between the squad and the club.”
“A lot of my ex-teammates would have wanted me back at Milanello too. But they always found that the door was closed by the club. I really don’t know what is behind this decision.”
Paris Saint Germain manager, Carlo Ancelotti, who has worked with Maldini for almost eight years, has offered the former defender to join him in his coaching staff. Ancelotti offered him a similar role during his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 days too,
but Maldini rejected the offer, insisting that he only wants to serve the Rossoneri. It was reported that he has met PSG Sporting Director, Leonardo, for a coaching role, but Maldini has denied the reports, insisting that he went to Paris to meet his friends.
The Italian confirmed that he received several coaching offers after his retirement, but his love for Milan forced him to turn them down.
Maldini insisted that the Red and Blacks have a special place in his heart, and he wants to repay the club for what they have given him throughout his career.
“Milan are in my heart and I want to repay the club. I feel a strong and unconditional love for the Rossoneri jersey. The only condition would be that I was able to do my http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 according to the ideas of my life.”
Maldini’s achievements for the Italian Champions can never be forgotten by the Rossoneri faithful. However, it remains debatable that the club have not privileged him for his mammoth contribution from 1985 until 2009. The best
the club have done in his honour is that they have retired his number 3 jersey, which will only be given to one of his sons if they make it to the club’s first-team.
His both sons, Christian and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879, play in Milan’s youth setup.
Maldini made 902 appearances in the Rossoneri shirt, and led the club to 26 major trophies throughout his career.
