Paper Mache Masks- Luquid Starch?

Well, I'm working on a mask type thing. We just went to Target to get baloons, but now I realized that I need luquid starch. Well, oops! What can I use as a replacement? Something other than glue, please!

All you need is flour and water.  Last summer my nephews and myself made paper mache frog banks.  They turned out so cute.  Get newspapers and strip them up.  Mix some flour and water in to a consistency easy to work with.  You don't want it too thick or it will be forever drying.  Since we made a bank we had to put several layers and had to let each layer dry at least 2 days.  It is very, very humid here in Louisiana.  We wanted the bank to be very thick.  I don't imagine you will want your mask that thick.  So a few layers should do.

flour and water - it is the simplest, easiest and cheapest way to paper mache. Simply combine 1 part flour to 3 parts cold water and mix well then dip your strips of paper or fabric and begin sculpting. It will need 24hours to dry but it will be very solid when it does. Good Luck!
