When do you get the paper notice for the rebate check? I am scheduled to get my rebate June 13th, and have not got the notice yet? I checked the IRS website and it confirms that I am getting it. I have read that most people are getting them the Monday before, but I didn't? Thanks for any help!

  1. The checks and the notices come from different departments.  The checks will not come from the IRS.  So, everything gets mailed from different locations around the country, therefore mailing times vary.  Some people get their checks before the notice, but most people get their notice first.

The information is posted on the web site at the same time the memos to generate the notice and to cut the checks are sent out to the appropriate departments.  It takes time for the information and the paperwork to flow through the various systems involved - and the departments generating the paper notice and checks are probably in different states - so depending on how fast or slow that information flows and how fast or slow the mail service is - you should see both the check and the notice within the next week - definately within the next two weeks - but the IRS does not want you to contact them for another six weeks.

  2. I got my paper notice that I was getting my rebate check on June 6. I actually got it on Monday June 9...One of my Co-workers also got the notice for June 6 but he got it until June 10. I guess they just mail out the checks on the dates on the notice and you get your check a couple of days later.

  3. I just got my paper notice yesterday. Says I should get mine by 6/13 also, but we'll see. The notice said if I don't get the check within 6 weeks from the notice, to call them. I would say if you don't get yours 6 weeks from now..call the IRS directly.

  4. We got our notice about 4 or 5 days before the check came.  The notice said the check was supposed to come on May 16 but it did not come until the 18th.
