In the ongoing International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Papua-New-Guinea-c41002 U19 beat the United States of America (USA) by six runs in the fifth match of the day by restricting the USA on 256 runs after posting a total of 262 runs on
the board in 43 overs at Observatory Lane, Rathmines, Dublin.
USA, which won the toss in a match that was reduced to 43 overs because of rain, chose to field first on a wicket that seemed difficult to bat on. However, New Guinea managed to pull off a splendid batting performance as most of the batsmen showed exceptional
talent while batting against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usa-c759.
Guinea openers, Lega Siaka and Charles Jordan Alewa Amini provided their team an astounding opening stand of 135 runs as both batsmen clearly looked at ease while batting against a bowling brigade that lacked the killing instinct needed to break the partnership.
None of the bowlers from the USA seemed skilled enough to penetrate the defences of the openers as they were clobbered all around the park by the opposition.
With a mammoth tally posted by the openers, the US were desperate to grab a wicket to put breaks on the batting onslaught that had wreaked havoc on the fielding side.
It was finally on the penultimate delivery of the 23rd over that the US managed to grab their first wicket when Amini was run out after playing a commendable innings of 44 runs off 62 deliveries. An over later Lega Siaka after playing an innings
of 73 runs off 80 deliveries lost his wicket by giving a catch to Hammad http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 off the bowling of Shayan Abdulghani.
The US side went berserk after taking this wicket as they knew that they had finally succeeded in dismissing the dangerous batsman who was looking in great form and could have scored a ton had he not been caught by the fielder.
However, USA’s woes weren’t over as the Guinea skipper Christopher Kent took the field, the batsman showed great strength of character as he played every delivery on merit and took the bowlers to task by keeping the score board running. Sese Bau alongside
Kent crafted a partnership of 31 runs in the third wicket partnership.
After taking the total to 173 runs, Guinea suffered another loss when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pranay-Suri-c82502 caught Bau off the bowling of Mital Patel after the batsman had struck 11 runs off 14 deliveries.
It was then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657.
Later Kent went to play a gem of an innings as he scored 60 runs off 62 deliveries before getting caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 Rashid Ahmad off the bowling of Patel. With the help of a great knock from the skipper, the team managed to post a daunting tally of 262 runs
on the board for the opposition to chase.
The USA, facing a tough task, needed a solid launch pad for their innings to take off; however, on just nine runs they suffered their first loss when opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Mirza-c49164 lost his wicket without scoring a run when he was caught by Amini off the bowling of
Raymond Charles Haoda.
Three runs later, Amarnauth Persaud also went back on nil after getting adjudged leg-before-wicket on a delivery bowled by Haoda.
The US batting line-up clearly lacked the sting required to chase the mammoth tally, nonetheless, opener Steven R Taylor played a staggering innings of 140 runs off 120 deliveries to take his side near the required total.
Unfortunately, the batsmen on the other end failed to provide http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 the support required to carry his conquest as the team could only muster 256 runs in response to Guinea.
He was named as the man of the match for his resilient batting display.
