With the close of the match’s opening innings, Papua New Guinea Under-19 (U19) managed to offer a competitive chase to the Vanuatu youth, after wrapping up their session at 245, following a loss of 7 wickets. The One Day International (ODI) bout came as
the final match for the day, Friday, August 5, 2011, and was being staged at the Irish arena, Bready Cricket Club No 2 Ground, Magheramason, Bready.

for the team.
The procession went on as Siaka took on aggressive batting, while Amini went with a more defensive stance. However, with the arrival of the 10th over, Amini failed to hold on to his crease, after the player stumbled into producing an easy catch
for Nalin Nipiko off Jelany Chilia’s delivery.
Opener Siaka also made his long walk to the pavilion, after failing to reach the crease following a mismanaged run attempt with partner and team skipper, Kent.
For Siaka’s disappointment, the batsman offered an impressive display with the bat, however, failed to earn his half century with just a single. The player’s 49 runs contribution came from 54 balls and included 6 boundaries and 2 out of the parks.
Following the loss, the crease was then taken over by Kent and two down batsman, Sese Bau. The pair went on to produce some decent footing on the pitch, leading the team in the innings, first half. However, in another mismanaged run attempt, Bau was declared
out, bringing New Guinea’s wicket toll to 3.
With Raturima Maha joining the skipper, the duo, yet again, entered into a contributing partnership as Kent took on a swift scoring stance. Serving some potent 8 overs, Maha marked his exit, after falling victim to the agile Vanuatu fielders.
As the procession went on, the skipper was also forced to exit the crease, after offering an impressive innings for his team.
Kent was declared out off Chilia’s delivery, which caught the batsman plumb on the pads, having him return to the pavilion. The skipper’s notable run at the crease included 46 runs, falling 4 runs short of a well deserved 50.
The session was then taken over by the middle and the eventual lower order.
