Papua New Guinea finally turned out to be the tournament champions after defeating Vanuatu in the final game of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cricket League East Asia-Pacific Region Division One Twenty20 series. The fixture was staged at the Amini Park, Port Moresby on
Thursday, July 07, 2011.
New Guinea’s final victory comes as the 6th win in a row, as the team remained undefeated throughout the tournament.
The final match kicked off after New Guinea won the toss and chose to bat. The team began its innings with the usual productive batting line-up featuring Asad Vala, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Kila-c66446 followed by the middle order and the eventual
tail enders.
As always, the team’s batsmen gave a striking start to the side. The first player to walk-off was Vala, after scoring 28 runs including 4 boundaries and a six. Ura and Amini were the other two wickets for the Vanuatu bowlers. While Dai and Kila were the
final two wickets for the session.
The batting side brought a decent close to their innings after scoring an adequate total of 195 runs with a loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

For the second innings of the day, Vanuatu came out with a decent opposition with the bat. However, the team lost its first two wickets in the 5th and 6th overs of the game. While in two more wickets fell halfway through the innings.
The team’s sluggish innings finally came to a close as Vanuatu players crumbled down in the 19th over leading to the eventual triumph for the New Guinea side.
