it depends how long the hole is.  You need to go to the practice range to get a reading for each club.  If you are a beginner, try a cavity back style club. They are easy to use.

Apparently, you haven't played this game. Otherwise, you wouldnt have asked the question as you have. Golf rules state that a par three hole is so designated when its yardage is less than 250 yards. So the length of the hole , the strength of the player will usually be the determining factors in choice of clubs.

sounds like you need help on how far you hit your clubs.. here is what i do and jim furyk does. go to a driving range, hit all your clubs highest club to lowest club, hit the driver 7 times and write down each distance for every shot. do that with all your clubs and caclulate each distance for that club and thats how you do it.

What club to use on a par-3?  It depends on the length of the hole AND how far you hit your clubs.  If you practice regularly at a driving range, you'll learn how far you hit each club which will make your decision easy on which club to hit when you play a par-3.

Best brand?  I prefer Callaway irons, TaylorMade drivers and Adams hybrids.
