Luke 8:14-18...The one I don't understand has an asterisk...

**14: And the ones that fell among thrones (birds the people of of the world) are those who when they have heard go out and are choked with cares, riches and pleasures of life ** and bring no fruit to maturity.

**15: But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who having heard the word the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

16: No one when he has lit a lamp covers it with vessel or puts it under a bed but sets it on a lamp stand that those who enter may see the light

17: For nothing is secret that will not be revealed nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.

**18: Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has to him more will be given and whoever does not have even what he seems to have will be taken from him.

  1. Jesus was explaining to his disciples about the work of God's Kingdom and plan, benefit, power, revelation ,blessings and the salvation.

  2. Well, we all tend to spend our time on things other than God

That's why it's good to cultivate good habits from the time you are little until you die (like daily prayer, etc) in order to keep God first in you life, because the cares and wonders of the world will overtake you.

    My take on it.

  3. You say you don't understand the one with an asterisk...but three of them have asterisks.

  4. V14-These are people who come into the Church and hear the Gospel of Christ and then go out into the world and care more about the world and what the world has then what they heard in Church and they do not care to bring fruit into the Kingdom.  The fruit of a Christan is another Christan.

V15 These are people who come into the Church and hear the Gospel become Christians and go and tell others about what He can do for them.

16 Jesus said that we are the light of the World, these means that since He is not here in the flesh it is our duty as Christians to take the Gospel to the world and tell them that Jesus is Coming Soon.  And we are to tell them how to become Christians.  To let our light shine means we are not to be ashamed of Christ and the fact that we are Christians, and not be afraid to tell the world.

17  On that Great Day of Judgment when we all stand before God, The Books will be open and everything that we have done for and against God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit, will be revealed.

    18.  The ones of us who have excepted Jesus as Lord and Savior have already received eternal life but on that Great Day we will receive much more  and those who have not received eternal life by excepting Jesus what they think they have down here now will be destroyed.

  5. 14.  An illustration for among thorns is seen in (Hebrews.11:24-26), beginning with verse 24. Moses, when he had grown up refused to be the son of Pharaoh´s daughter: this represents CARES of this life.  In verse 25. Moses chose rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season: this represents PLEASURES of this life.  And in verse 26. Moses regarded or valued the reproach(ie: disapproval and denunciation) of Christ as greater riches than the treasure in Egypt: this represents RICHES.  The point is when we choose these over God, then are we among thorns.

    15.  There are four ways of hearing the Word of God, but only one way will work, and that is on the good ground, which when we hear on actual good ground, we are obedient to His Word, and bring results with a temper that does not surrender to circumstances.

    18.  This verse is speaking to those who pretend, and that their act may be hid from people, but not from God, and in their end, He will say, I never knew you.
