Paraguay coach Francisco Arce defends Benfica star Oscar Cardozo – Portuguese Primeira Liga News
Paraguay national team coach, Francisco Arce, has lavished praise on Oscar Cardozo and claimed that he would rotate the current tactics to better suit the Benfica forward, who hauled them to the Copa America final earlier in the summer.
A star at his club in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979, Oscar Cardozo is arguably one of the finest players in football today. The diminutive forward has thrilled fans with his scintillating goals and has continued to dominate the headlines
in recent times.
Although supremely talented, the 28-year-old has lost some his magic following an injury ridden campaign and this was visible in his outings for the national team in the prestigious Copa America. While he helped his side to reach the final, Cardozo had not
reached his peak and was far from being the player that bamboozled defenders with his skills only a few months ago.
The performances have attracted a fair share of critics but Los Guaraníes coach, Francisco Arce, is not one of them. The 40-year-old claimed that the fans had been unfair to the attacker and only a few of them had actually defended him.
“Football fans have been unfair to him. At times they whistled like Judas and only a few were those who came out in defence of Cardozo. It is very important that you understand football to recognize what the function of each player on the field.”
Arce also commented that he was going to change the current formation to something similar that was utilized at Benfica, so that his main man would be more comfortable and would be able to play his natural game.
"I will not ask him to run behind the side with a need to go back or to help out in defending. We want him to play the way he feels comfortable, like at his club, so he can finish whenever you need it. He is a great finisher,” the former Gremio man was quoted
as saying.
While it is unclear whether Oscar Cardozo will be to return to his best for club and country, it is certain that his coach is behind and fully backs him for success in the near future.
