Paraguay vs. Venezuela – Full Time Report – Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 2011
The first half ended 1-1 for both the sides and even though Venezuela were the ones threatening the Paraguayan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979 still managed to find an equalizer.
There were no changes made at the start of the second half and both the coaches seemed satisfied with their line-up.
While the first half was eventful, the second was something more. Both the teams played outstanding football and the match ended with a lot of drama.
As the second half kicked off, the game was mostly concentrated in the heart of the pitch. The first http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 opportunity came during the hour mark. It was Valdez who managed to cut in from the left and took his shot on goal. The Paraguayan couldn’t find the
target but the effort was quite close.
Ortigoza created the best chance for the Paraguayans in the second half. Paraguay were looking good in the final third and it was Ortigoza who got past two Venezuela defenders and made a cut back pass towards Barrios. Barrios could easily have scored the
goal from close range but it was blocked by Vega. It was a tremendous save by Vega and a poor shot by Barrios who could easily have taken the lead for Paraguay.
The blocked shot went out for a corner and Barrios covered up for the mistake he made a minute ago. The whipped in corner found Valdez who tried to volley it home from 10 yards, Vega blocked the shot and found Barrios standing almost on the goal line. Barrios
chested the ball and found the back of the net. Paraguay finally got the well deserved lead.
Venezuela tried to find an equalizer and kept on making a run forward in order to find a goal. Maldonado took a shot from 25 yards out after the frustrations grew and only six minutes were left in the game. The shot found the target but it was clawed away
by Villar to keep his side into the game.
During the 86th minute, Paraguay managed to score another goal to make the score line almost unreachable for the Venezuelans. Valdez won a free kick on the sideline and he decided to take it himself. Valdez’s free kick found the header of Riveros
on the near post who easily flicked it past Vega to make the score line 3-1.
With only one minute remaining in the game, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Venezuela-c3039. Rondon was at the end of this goal as well. The ball dropped right in front of Rondon who couldn’t find a way to shoot it on goal. However, he decided to give a through
ball towards Miku who was waiting at the far post. The ball was delivered perfectly and it found Miku who easily tapped the ball in to make the score line 3-2.
Venezuela won a corner towards the dying moments of the game and just when Paraguay thought they had won all three points, they didn’t. Vega also came forward because it was probably the last moment of the game. The corner found Vega’s header who nodded
the ball forward and found Perozo. Perozo didn’t make a mistake from close range and scored from a low, diving header. The match ended 3-3 and Venezuela qualified for the next round.
It was a match filled with drama and even though Paraguay took a two goal lead towards the dying moments of the game, Venezuelans didn’t give up and made an extraordinary comeback. It was, without a doubt, the best match of the Copa America 2011.
