Parakeet Buddy?

Question

I got a parakeet in may and she is about 8months old now. Should I get her a buddy to talk to? she already has a mirror but usually likes to be by herself

i think parakeets are happy either way. if she's tame, i wouldnt recommend getting another bird because then she'll no longer feel the need to get attention from you. but if she's not tame and you dont plan on taming her then a mate might be good. if she's been by herself for awhile, she might become territorial towards another bird in her cage though. i really dont see a need to get another parakeet if she seems perfectly fine by herself.

my mom's parakeet lived by itself and preferred it that way, we got it a mate once and she didnt seem too playful with it in the cage with her, the new mate got sick and died less than a year later and my mom's parakeet seemed happier, kinda weird but that's what happened.
