Parakeet hand training question?

Question

so i got a parakeet for my birthday like a month ago and have been trying to get it on my finger since then and it will easily put his left foot on my finger and just sit there but he wont ever put his right foot on my finger when i try and get the second foot on he just flutters away or moves his foot farther away.......anyways i was just wondering if anyone had any pointers to get him completely on my finger.... or if it will just take more time

i used to have 2 parakeets it only took me and my brother bout 2hours straight to get it on my finger then after a couple more times of it they just did it automatically

lure him over with a treat.. once he knows it's safe to stand on you he'll probably do it all the time but the first few times might require a yummy bribe..

When trying to get it one your finger,don't let it be the boss.Put your finger down like you do and gently press against the bottom of the bird's breast.Try it,it will work,or it will bite.If you let the bird decide when to perch you may be there forever.

Cheerios or Rice Krispies are the best type of treats that will allow your parakeet to trust you and love you. once it has trust in you, it should come up on your finger. if not there may be something wrong with its right foot, not allowing it to raise it. try seeing a vet if thats the case.

Get "Guide to a Well-behaved Parrot" by Mattie Sue Athan; it has some wondrous techniques that I found in few other parrot training books. You can also find some quality info on the Internet, but you may have to filter quite hard to get to it. And patience and perseverance is critical to hand training your parakeet, so don't give up, keep up your effort and you'll see the fruit of your labor.
