Parakeet help. please. :(

Question

I have had this parakeet for over a month and it hates everyone. It wont come out of its cage. and if you try to stick your finger in there. He will just bite it. Hes got the BIGGEST cage and is well taken care of. he screems at night. And i cant take it anymore. I need advice training it. if none of your ideas work i will have to give him up for adapotion.

Your parakeet is terrified.  It might be possible to tame him/her but it will take time and you will have to proceed very slowly.  You will need a LOT of patience.  It would be easier for you to find a good new home for this bird and then to buy a hand-tame young bird. If you don't insist on taking the bird you have out of is cage or that it be hand tame, it would probably feel more secure with another parakeet to talk to.  Check your library and pet stores for books on hand taming birds if you want to tame the one you have.

alright heres what i did i had a glove and i wore it when mine does it and it dont hurt but after while you want need a glove but make sure others do it and let him get used to them to

well when u go to bed u have to put a black sheet over the whole cage so it coverse the cage  completly and then take it off in the morning  . try to feed ur bird with food and treats from ur fingers so it gets used to ur smell even if it wont let u in talk to it and it will learn in time that ur no harm and that ur the owner when ur not at home put music on 4 the bird idk y but it help a lot trust me i have a pareket  anyways when theres no one alse arround but u so it wont get  scard go into a small room if u have one and let the bird out once in a while and have treats out on ur hand so that itll come to u  all u need is a little pashants good luck=]( p.s. did  u no u can teach a parakeet to talk  sing and even memerize a whole fraze my bird only knows how to say good morning and night and bugger off lol and yes its a parakeet)

this is why i dont like the parakeet as a companion bird . you are better off with cockatiels as companion birds . I also have a quaker and i have been dealing with birds for over 30 yrs so if you have any more questions you can email me and I will try to help . sounds like this parakeet is cage aggresive . take him out of the cage and get him away from the cage where he or she cannot see it and then begin taming him and everytime he tries to bite tell him a very stern no . Dont holler because this will make him think it is okay . just keep telling him no and eventually the more you work with him the better he or she will get .
