She is about 6 years old. No swelling, but will not lie down to rest and leans over the good foot and can't stay up very well on perch. Tired.

  1. My bird did this after having a stroke.  Take it to the vet.

  2. Well, the first thing that comes up is take her to the vet.  Second thing is, are her nails perhaps too long?  You do need to either put grit paper around the perches, which acts to file the birds' nails down, or you need to clip their nails routinely.  A vet can instruct on how to do this.  You need to have styptic powder nearby in case you nick the little vein in their toe by cutting their nails too close.  It's necessary to be careful and to have the styptic powder close as this can and will staunch any bleeding.  Some birds also like to tuck one foot under while sleeping.  Are you sure this is not what she's doing?

  3. My old bird did that once. It appeared he was getting arthritis. I wasn't putting different texture and sizes perches in his cage. He never got over it and he died 2 years later suffering. You might want to get different sized perches. Also, sometimes they like to stretch.
