I have two parakeets, one male one female, for about a year or two. I've tried training them but they are still really scared of me...what should I do to help them trust me more so that I can train them?

  1. my parakeets were easier to train wen i got their wings clipped putting soft music on helps to but sumtimes they immitate the sounds so make sure u dont do sumtin crazy lol

also taking ur index finger and gently pressing it into their feet lets them learn to trust u enough so they will stand on yr finger make sure u play with them put a lil food in yr hand but dont train more then five mins they get easily bored and agitated

  2. well as long as they dont bite try to put food on ur hand and wait at sometime they will come and take a nibble but dont do sudden movements or they get more scared and try and do this 15 mins a day or somthin

  3. You should have started training them when you just got them. Older parakeets are more scared than younger ones!

  4. omg your just like me i have one male and female(male is more gentle) and i have had them for about 1-2 years. i just started training them by taking one of those sticky things or perch's and gently puttin it on their feet now i put my finger under the perch/stick and when they get on i roll the stick so they go off balance and land on my finger, their feet are so warm lol. its been three days and all that has happened, but i only teach the male because the female bites no matter what. hope that helps let me know how it goes.
