Parakeets age?

Question

i just got a parakeet yesterday, (named buddy lol)

and we arent sure how old he is, how can i tell?

btw:

hes really small too, lol

A young Budgerigar has a smooth cere, black stripes (except for the light colored types) on the forehead (giving the term "bar-head" for a immature Keet), and a completely black eye. Within six months, the forehead is white or yellow and the eye has a white iris. The male's cere remains smooth. The hen's darkens in color and becomes crusty and flakey in appearance, not to be confused with a mite infestation. This is a normal sign of sexual maturity and can be used to differentiate the genders in Albinos and Lutinos, where cere color is no help.

if he has the stripes on his forehead he is still a juvenile.... until his forehead is a solid color you wont be able to s*x him either..... once it is solid look at his nostrils.... if the color around them is brown --  female, if its purple or blue around the nostrils-- male...

Other than that, a vet could try to make a guess for you. But there's really no easy way to tell the age of an adult parakeet easily. "

i had 7 parakeets so i know quite a bit about them. the best way to find out how old they are is take him to vet they will probally give you the best guess becuase there really is no way of telling how old a parakeet is. also you could try asking the person you bought him from. hope i helped

pet stores usualy keep them young so a few weeks old im guessing aand expecialy if its little --- good luck!

The older ones tend to have smaller eyes, where if it's a newborn their eyes are pretty big, like bulging compared to the older ones.
