Parakeets: names, care, and more?

Question

I'm getting parakeets (:

So, I'd like to know anything you'd like to tell me. I'll be getting two of them, and i was thinking that the names would be sushi and wasabi -- although I'd LOVE any name suggestions you have (as long as they're related, not something like Cat and Fork).

Reccomend products to me, too! I'd love to know what things work for you, and what didn't. Specifically for things like food, cages, toys and treats.

Share anything else you can, too! :D

Sushi and Wasabi are perfect. I think I'm gonna name mine Frodo and Samwise (from lord of the rings)

anyways, you should probably check your local book/pet store for info. Today I bought "Parakeets for Dummies"!!!! also, check this-(i haven't read it yet, so, sorry if it doesn't have much)

The best bit of advice to a new bird owner is to go buy a book about the variety you are interested in. Buy it at least a month before you plan on getting the bird.

For one thing some of the answers on here are comical. They are giving answers about something they know nothing about. You might decide that a parakeet isn't the bird for you after you read the book. It is much easier to throw the book on a shelf than it is to try to get rid of a bird that makes to much of a mess for your liking.

Hello.

I am no good on names , but I know how to take care of parakeets ( having 9 breeding proven pairs and more than 50 babies ...Yeah! I think I know how .)

They eat seed like canaries & finches ( you can buy at Wal_mart , they sell $ 3 a bag and it has a picture of keets, canaries & finches ) . I also give them hard boiled eggs ( every other day ) , cut in half , serve shell and all . They do need grit ( for digestion ) and a cuttle bone for calcium . They love to eat green like brocoli head , spray millet ( I plant my own fresh millets and they eat all the green shoots & leaves of millets ) they also eat brown bread , zupreem fruit snack for keets ( buy at the pet store ) . I give the crackers once a while too .

You can buy a few toys for them but not too much to crowding the cage and every other month , you can change the new toys , they sell toys for keets at the stores and they have a few choices , just ask the seller what section is for keets . Have fun. TM.
