  1. You can manipulate the wheel any way you need to... the examiner will be watching to see if you maintain positive control at all times.

Back ups?  Why should you need more than one?  If you're taking the test, practice time is over.  If it takes too many, tell him/her that you're nervous having somebody there just LOOKING for mistakes.

You need to look in what ever direction that you're moving, especially before you start moving that direction.  Surely that came up in driver's ed.

Don't psych yourself out.  Just do what you know how to do.  The examiner is just there to make sure that you CAN (and safely.)

  2. i live in pa and although its been 20 years since my DL test my niece just took hers... let me try to answer your questions in a small paragraph..

yes you can cross over your hands but it very hard to do so when you are looking over your shoulder and i believe you have 2 chances with one back up per attempt...

you should practice before you go so you aren't nervous.. remember the test administrators do this everyday over 20 times or more and they know if you have or have not had sufficient practice and may tend to dock points... or they may not just depends on the day they are having.. Always look over your shoulder when backing up but remember to look in front when you are cutting the wheel so you make sure you don't hit the "car" (cone) in front of you.. and try using one hand .. looking over your shoulder and using two hands on the wheel is very difficult.. good luck

  3. When I parallel park I pull up next to the car ahead of the space I want to park in.

Looking over my right shoulder I back up slowly, and turn the wheel to the right, making the back of my car get closer to the curb.

After a bit I turn the wheel the other way, just so, as I continue backing.

As soon as I'm parallel to the curb I'm done. If I'm not just between the car in front and in back, I might straighten out and put it just between. Otherwise, that's it. Done.

I don't cross my hands, I only have my left hand on the wheel.

  4. From all that I have read concerning this...............Yes you can cross over your hands but always keep both on the steering wheel.

They will likely only give you two attempts.

Yes you look over your shoulder but remember to use the mirrors as well........
