Question:

Parallel Universe Question PLEASE HELP!?

Okay, I really want to come to grips with this parallel universe theory, because quite frankly, it is driving my nuts not being able to fully comprehend it!

Does parallel universes mean that for ever possible action or thought a whole new universe is created? So if in one universe I narrowly get hit by a car in another universe I actually DID get hit by that car?

If this is the case, that means that ALL of us have been through and done ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING and have EXPERIENCED EVERYTHING.

That means in one universe im a cold blooded murder! I find this extremely disturbing? is this actually for real!

Please help a guy out who is sickened by the idea that Parallel universes in the way I described is actually real... I cant bring it upon myself to accept that in another universe I have killed loved ones or have had loved ones kill me!

Sorry to be graphic but I just want to get my point out there!

I would prefer scientific answers initially

  1. i think you are jumping the gun, they( parallel universes) have not been fully proven yet and they could quite different than you  describe.

  2. watch the Star Trek TOS episode Mirror, Mirror. It explains everything. In one universe you are evil and have a goatee, and you are normal in the other.

  3. If the universe is indeed infinite, then in some other part of the universe you exist there also.  And because of the universe being infinite there would be an infinite number of you with infinite possibilities.  This is purely subjective thought only on the premise of the universe being infinite.

  4. Someone usually asks this because they heard it was part of String Theory or it was part of a PopSci program.  I don't know much about String Theory and I dislike PopSci programs, but here is an idea.

If you are going to completely describe something's future, you must consider every thing that can possible happen, thus there is a specific probability that any of these possibilites will happen.  Some Scientists refer to these possible outcomes as a World.  Since you are only interested in those worlds that are different from all others, there would not be parallel worlds.

If you think that the conservation law of energy is true, and if your take this to its logical conclusion, it seems to suggest that there are an infinite number of Universes side by side, but too far away from each other to communicate.
