Question

I know that you can swim in the pool above vernal falls, but every year there a few people who are swept over the falls and killed.

Question

1. How many people survived the fall?

2. Some suggest to keep part and when you are at the brink of the falls, jump out as far as you can because there is a pretty deep pool below on the right side (http://radified.com/HalfDome/uwilldie.ht... Will it work???

3. With quick medical assistance, can the lives of some of these people be saved? how long does it take to pull someone out of the pool bellow the falls, not too long I bet!

1 - Very few.

2 - Hit the rocks and you will bash your brains out. It's pretty gross, but you won't feel it. Your friends and the park rangers will have to clean up the mess.

3 - Hit the pool from 240 feet up (equivalent to a 24-story building) and you will be knocked unconscious. If the fall didn't break your neck you will be dead in 300 seconds.  That is how long you can survive without getting oxygen to your brain.

Your buddies have five minutes to get you out of the water and start CPR.  How fast can they hike down?
